For me graphic design is a combination of imagery and typography, which is used to communicate ideas and messages.
I find that while I am outside I am constantly looking around at the visual imagery that surrounds us, whether it be on billboards, shops or even what people are wearing, there is always something which conveys an image and usually something else which contradicts it.
Whilst enjoying every aspect of graphic design, from illustration to typography I have a passion for typographic design as well as motion graphics for film and television. I love how the simplicities of a chosen typeface, or colour can set the tone of the specific message.
When I begin a project I try to look at the brief from different angles, and use magazines and books to research and develop ideas within sketchbooks. I find that paying attention to the development of an idea helps to refine the final outcome, whether that is done on a computer or hand rendered.
I tend to retain information well and have the ability to pass information on to others to help aid them in their design process, I enjoy working with a range of different materials and find that this allows me to incorporate mixed media within computer aided design.
I am comfortable with a range of applications and enjoy working with both multimedia and print orientated packages, I feel that this allows me to play with the design of an idea as I am constantly thinking how they can work from print to multimedia and vice versa.
